CAA Survey

Who should respond to this survey?
We are interested in the views of both users and non-users of CAA. So even if you have no direct experience of CAA, if you work in higher education, we would greatly value your opinions- particularly if you have an interest in assessment.

About the 2004 National CAA survey
In order to understand how the use of CAA is developing in HE, we ask about your experience with and views about CAA. The design of the 2004 survey is based upon an enhanced and refined version of the 1999 CAA Centre UK survey, although the first national UK CAA survey was conducted four years previously by Derek Stephens and Janine Mascia in 1995 (published in 1997).

How will my responses be used?
Your responses will be used to help assess how the use of CAA has developed in Higher Education since the 1999 National CAA Survey that was conducted by the CAA Centre, and will be stored securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act (1995). They will be deleted as soon as they have been encoded.

Where will the findings be published?
Our findings will be published on the TOIA website and will be submitted for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The results are also intended to support doctoral research in the implementation and evaluation of CAA in HE.

What's in it for me?
Our study is heavily dependent upon the goodwill of respondents, and to show our appreciation we will enter the email addresses of all respondents who have replied by the end of August 2004 into a Prize Draw for two £25 Gift Vouchers.

What version of the questionnaire should I use?
Like the 1999 survey upon which it is based, the questionnaire is substantial. We recognise that your time is valuable, so we have prepared a ‘core’ version of the questionnaire that takes most people around 15-20 minutes, and a ‘full’ version which we hope CAA professionals and enthusiasts will use; that version takes most people around 30 minutes. The core version consists mainly of objective items, whilst the full version has some additional free text questions.

Thank you for your time, and good luck in the draw!
